THE HEALTHY SAMOSAS

I have always loved samosas – crispy &  flaky filled with mouth watering spicy potatoes and peas , which you enjoy sizzling hot dipped in mint chutney and hot masala tea . Samosa is  the most popular Indian snack.   No Indian Restaurant`s menu is complete without samosa as a starter.

With new diet fads and health conscious  people , the snack was loosing popularity .Some discarding it as deep fried and some want gluten free.  Here  is a super easy recipe .Its easy  and healthy and now we  can indulge guilt free . We can choose various fillings per your palate like minced mutton and peas, feta and spinach, soya and peas , cottage cheese, tandoori chicken mince etc

Samosa – air fried and gluten free

INGREDIENTS

  1. Ingredients 1 cup oats flour 1 tsp salt 1 tsp ajwain 2 tsp olive oil water Filling 3 sweet potatoes boiled 3/4 cup peas boiled salt as per taste 1 tsp red chili powder 1 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp cumin powder 1/2 tsp pomegranate seeds 1 tsp raw mango powder 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp oil method- In a bowl mix flour ,1/2 tsp salt and ajwain or carom seeds Add 2 tbsp of olive oil , you may add cow ghee also if you wish instead. mix all the ingredients together .you will get sand like consistency using water sparsely prepare the tight dough cover with kitchen cloth and set aside for 30 minutes prepare the filling while the dough rests prepare the filling- In a Pan heat oil add all the condiments , saute till they crackle mash the sweet potatoes and add in peas in the pan saute for 3-4 minutes remove from heat and let it cool add in spices and seasoning Assemble the samosas- divide the dough into small balls Roll them with a rolling pin into palm size discs cut them into halves take the half disc carefully in your moist palm and make a come with wide base fill the filling gently and seal the base so you get a triangular patty repeat the process till all samosas are made brush with olive oil put in batches in preheated air fryer are 350 degree F. air fry for 10 minutes and then turn the side and cook for 5 minutes remove from the air fryer and serve hot with chutney of your choice or simple tomato ketchup .
