Reversing the effects of the Transfats
The big fat question this week is how to reverse the effects of trans fats.
Any suggestions?Lets debate the topic .
My side of the debate-
Mention the word fats and most people automatically think of unhealthy ones which we should try to eliminate or reduce in our diet. However, good fats also exist and these play an important role in the functioning of our bodies.Our Brain compromises Around 60% of fats so to devoid your self good fats can effect the brain in the ong run.
So the question is ,”which ones are good and which ones bad?”
Trans fats are also known as trans fatty acids, and are a specific type of fat formed when liquid oils are made into solid fats like shortening and hard margarine.
Trans fats, which are considered to be the most harmful to people’s health, behave like saturated fat by raising low-density lipoprotein (LDL or “bad”) cholesterol which increases your risk of coronary heart disease. They can be found in some of the same foods as saturated fat, such as vegetable shortenings, some margarines, crackers, sweets, biscuits, snack foods, fried foods, baked goods, and other processed foods made with or fried in partially hydrogenated vegetable oils.
people should avoid products that have trans fats added to them by food manufacturers. “This does not mean one should abstain from all cakes, biscuits etc – alternatives include cakes and biscuits made with butter rather than hydrogenated vegetable oil.”
some Nutritionists recomend , people can help reverse some of the adverse effects of trans fats by taking a good omega supplement.I guess we should talk to our doctors and nutritionists to have diet recomendations from them inorder to mantain healthy balance in our diet depending upon our body requirements and deficinecies .The best way is to get the blood test done as recomended by your physician or doctor and then let him advise how to reverse the effect of the transfat .In my opinion,
In many countries the governments have banned Transfats or made mandatory for manufacturers to mention so on their products.I feel the governments nad food authorities have an important role to play in the policy making regardignthese issues
